There were 3 LITTLE AUKS around the Vanguard buoy, just north of Flotta, today. It was just before 1100 hours on Armistice Day, so it was fairly poignant, but the birds were so close to the boat and cute (I just wanted to grab them tight and squeeze their ridiculously dinky little bills) that WW1 was actually pretty far from my mind. Two groups of porpoises, and lots of Long-tailed Duck, and a good sprinkle of 3 diver species (Black-throated represented by a group of 3 towards Hunda, with another LITTLE AUK seen flying past there too). No scoter however (Julian Branscombe) The inset photograph was taken by Ian Boustead
