St. David's Airfield 30 November;-Local birder Robin was having a good look around a pond/marsh area at the north of the airfield when he saw the pointed bill and yellow legs of a black slime covered bittern type bird. After taking pieces home & cleaning the bird became even more interesting!
I went over to see the bird (after finishing a TTV with Janet!). A look at the wing, shows it to be the remains of an AMERICAN BITTERN. Wing, bill, leg and foot measurements were taken & various photographs, all supporting the case for this species. The remains are stored to add to the descriptive record.
This represents the 4th record for Pembrokeshire
