This Blue-winged Teal-type was discovered by Gary Pullan at Daventry Country Park this morning and was showing well throughout much of the afternoon. I arrived just over an hour after it was found and was amazed to see its Shoveler-like bill, this leading me to believe it was more likely a Northern Shoveler x Blue-winged Teal hybrid. The bill had orange on the edge of the flanges and on the underside of the base and the legs were orange, Otherwise though, features were of a Blue-winged Teal.
