AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER in East Sussex

Present for its second day, this first-summer AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER at Cuckmere Haven was a photographer's dream - showing down to just 25 yards on a tiny pool 200 yards before the beach. It was so appealing that I took over 300 shots of it, a small selection I present below. The bird was calling frequently - a rather eerie, somewhat European Golden Plover-like sound, quite different from the normal ''chu-wee' you often hear on Scilly from young AGP's in autumn....
